I decided to write a book after the birth of my fourth child because honestly, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I had worked so hard towards my VBA3C. It seemed weird, even with four kids to not have something to work on and prepare, besides normal life. My heart was overwhelmed with God’s goodness and love for me and I knew I wanted to share more of not just my story, but I really believe this is all about Him.

Were You The One In Three?

Did you have a c-section?

Were you the “1 in 3?”

Wow. So you had major abdominal surgery as you welcomed a new child into your life? Major surgery takes healing.

As you healed, did you manage to bottle feed your baby? Did you wake up, prepare a bottle, feed a baby and help baby stay alive? And then wake up and wash those bottles only to repeat the entire process again? Or maybe you breastfed. Did you teach and work with you baby to learn to receive nourishment in a new way? Did you maybe struggle with soreness, latch issues and the like? Maybe even mastitis or extreme pain? Did you wake up several times at night to do this, ALL WHILE HEALING FROM MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY?

Did people come from far and wide to see you and your baby? Did you talk to them, visit with them and welcome them to your home ALL WHILE HEALING FROM MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY?

You probably had help. A husband, your family and friends. And it couldn’t be done with out them! But no other situation involves major surgery and healing for that while also caring for a very small and helpless newborn.

Oh, and MAYBE you had other children as well. That you cared for physically and emotionally. Helping them adjust. Loving on them, making them feel important ALL WHILE YOU ARE HEALING FROM MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY.

Can I ask….what super power do YOU have?

Oh, yes. You my friend are an amazing being called a mom. Capable of enduring a major surgery and healing in body and heart while also taking care of others AT THE SAME TIME!

Wow. Sometimes we don’t get the birth we desire and sometimes we do. We can look at things when they don’t work out, and it becomes all we focus on, all we can see. Do I have your permission to ask you something? Can you focus in on not all that you haven’t been, but all that you are and have done? Think on that for a bit…
